St.Andrew’s Church 200th Anniversary
In 2023 St.Andrew’s Church in Lucan will celebrate 200 years of worship and witness in the village of Lucan and the surrounding area. This milestone is testament to the faithfulness of parishioners and the support of friends down through the years.
In its history the church stood as a witness in times of huge challenge. The famine occurred only two decades after it opened. Two world wars have been reflected in those who came from this parish and their families who waited patiently and often facing ultimate grief.
The church building travelled through the unsettling days of dis-establishment and embraced it’s place within the new Free State and ultimately the Irish Republic.
The Covid pandemic has disturbed parish life once more and gradually there is a return to corporate worship and the sense of community togetherness. We trust that we will all continue to make that a growing reality each day
At every point of change faithfulness in the One who leads us forward has brought us to this landmark in time. Throughout the next year there will be many points of celebration. Please get ready to celebrate God with us and us in Him.
